SIMBA Telecom is Singapore's fourth fully licensed mobile network operator with its own 4G and 5G spectrum. Formerly known as TPG Singapore, SIMBA rebranded in 2022 and is owned by Australia-based Tuas Limited. SIMBA offers competitively priced mobile plans starting from SGD 10 per month and 10 Gbps fibre broadband at SGD 29.99 per month.

About SIMBA Telecom

SIMBA Telecom Pte Ltd, formerly TPG Singapore, was founded in 2016 after winning an IMDA spectrum auction by Australian entrepreneur David Teoh. The company rebranded from TPG to SIMBA in 2022 when usage rights to the TPG brand expired.

Unlike MVNOs, SIMBA operates its own network infrastructure as a fully licensed mobile operator with dedicated 4G and 5G spectrum. The company is wholly owned by Tuas Limited, incorporated in Australia following the demerger of TPG Telecom's Singapore operations.

Troubleshooting SIMBA Telecom Issues

Common SIMBA Telecom connection problems and how to fix them.

Phone shows 4G instead of 5G in an area where SIMBA claims 5G coverage

Cause: SIMBA's 5G rollout is still in progress. Some areas may not have 5G towers active yet.

  1. Verify your phone supports SIMBA's 5G frequency bands
  2. Check SIMBA's coverage map to confirm 5G status at your location
  3. Toggle airplane mode on and off to force network reselection
  4. Move outdoors for better 5G signal reception
  5. Contact SIMBA support to report areas without expected 5G coverage

WiFi speed on the 10 Gbps fiber plan is much slower than expected

Cause: Standard WiFi routers cannot deliver 10 Gbps speeds. Router and device limitations are the bottleneck.

  1. Test with an ethernet cable to verify the fiber connection speed
  2. Use a WiFi 7 router for the best wireless performance
  3. On the 24-month contract, use the included D-Link WiFi 7 router
  4. Place the router centrally and away from walls and interference sources

Mobile connection drops intermittently during the day

Cause: SIMBA's network is newer with ongoing optimization. Handovers between towers may cause brief drops.

  1. Enable VoLTE in phone settings for more stable voice and data connections
  2. Restart your phone to re-establish a fresh network connection
  3. Try a different APN setting if recommended by SIMBA support
  4. Report persistent dropout locations to SIMBA for network optimization

SIMBA Telecom Speed Test FAQ

Is SIMBA an MVNO or does it have its own network?

SIMBA Telecom is not an MVNO. It is Singapore's fourth fully licensed mobile network operator with its own dedicated 4G and 5G spectrum allocated by IMDA. This means SIMBA builds and operates its own cell towers and network infrastructure independently of Singtel, StarHub, and M1. Having its own network gives SIMBA full control over coverage, capacity, and quality of service rather than relying on another operator's infrastructure.

How do I test my SIMBA internet speed?

Use the free speed test tool on this page to check your SIMBA connection speed. Click Start Test to measure download speed, upload speed, and ping latency. For mobile speed tests, ensure you have strong signal and are not connected to WiFi. For fibre broadband tests, connect directly to your router using an ethernet cable for the most accurate results. Test at different times and locations to see how your SIMBA speeds vary across Singapore.

What roaming data is included with SIMBA plans?
