TPG Speed Test FAQ

How fast is TPG NBN internet?

TPG NBN speeds range from 50 Mbps to 1 Gbps depending on your plan and NBN technology type. ACCC Measuring Broadband Australia reports show TPG delivers 90-100% of advertised speeds during busy evening hours. Actual speeds depend on your NBN connection type at your premises. TPG offers competitive pricing but may have slightly lower speed delivery than premium providers like Telstra during congestion.

Is TPG the same as iiNet?

TPG and iiNet are separate brands owned by the same parent company, TPG Telecom Limited. TPG acquired iiNet in 2015 and both continue operating as distinct brands with different pricing and plan structures. TPG focuses on value pricing while iiNet emphasizes customer service. Vodafone Australia is also owned by TPG Telecom following the 2020 merger. Technical infrastructure is shared across these brands.

How do I test my TPG speed?

Use the speed test tool on this page to measure your TPG NBN download speed, upload speed, and ping latency. For accurate results, connect directly to the TPG modem using an ethernet cable rather than WiFi. Test during the busy period between 7pm and 11pm AEST when network congestion is highest. Close streaming applications before testing. Run multiple tests to get an average reading.

Does TPG have contracts?

TPG NBN plans are month-to-month with no lock-in contracts for the service itself. However, the included modem is provided on a 24-month minimum term. If you cancel within 24 months, you may need to pay out the remaining modem cost or return the equipment. You can avoid this by bringing your own compatible modem. TPG does not charge setup fees for standard NBN installations.
